If you are DYING right now because we are missing your favorite book then feel free to comment with your own suggestion. Just make sure to leave the title, author, and age category of your book suggestion!!

Let's make sure to keep it clean in the YA section (and all of the others really, though I find it less likely to be a problem) -- we're only interested in recommendations that contain very little sexual content or profanity.

A great story for tweens (5th,6th, 7th grade would be perfect) is "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper. A very moving story about an intelligent middle school girl who, due to a disabling disease, has been unable to speak from birth. No physical violence (although there is a car accident) and no sexual content. There is lots of emotional content as she suffers from the way kids treat her. But her spirit is amazing. It would be nice if everyone - including adults - could read this and get a new perspective on differently abled people. Well written and some good humor as well. A great find.
